Dr. David O'Keeffe

Welcome to my home page! My name is David O'Keeffe. Since 2008, I have taught a number of courses for the School of Mathematics, Statistics and Applied Mathematics at NUI Galway, (see below for details). My doctoral thesis was submitted in 2009 under the supervision of Dr. Emil Sköldberg.

Research

My area of interest is in cohomology theory and recently I have been working on problems concerning the calculation of the Hochschild cohomology rings for certain classes of associative algebras. For my doctoral thesis I calculated the cohomology ring for the class of quadratic monomial algebras. I am also interested in researching and understanding the different approaches used in the teaching of mathematics to undergraduate students. I have also taught at NUI Maynooth and University Of New South Wales (UNSW), Sydney.

Maths Week

I have been the chief organiser of Maths Week in Galway since 2010. The aim of this special week is to promote the awareness, appreciation and understanding of maths among the general public. Workshops on the following were given during maths week
